Job opportunities

Computational Postdoctoral Associate

Job Description

The Lage Lab at the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research and Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Genomic Mechanisms of Disease is seeking a Computational Postdoctoral Associate to join our team. Our team generates and analyzes functional genomics data in human cellular models to study diseases of major public health significance, including psychiatric and metabolic disorders. We aim to elucidate the mechanistic links between genetic variation and disease using cell-type-specific, multi-omics approaches to lay the foundation for rationally designed medicines.

The candidate will join a multidisciplinary and collaborative team to analyze a variety of biological datasets (genetic, epigenetic, transcriptomic, proteomic), develop analysis tools and pipelines, and build computational models to understand gene regulation, protein networks, and disease mechanisms in various human tissues and cell types.

This is a 40 hour/week full-time position with flexible hours and competitive salary/fringe benefits. The Broad Institute provides a vibrant research environment with close links to MIT, Harvard, and the Harvard-affiliated hospitals across Boston. Being a member of our team will provide the opportunity for your contributions to be utilized and recognized across the vast global network of genomic research.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

  • Collaborate with experimental scientists to develop, evaluate, and optimize functional assays in human cellular models.
  • Design and implement computational pipelines to analyze high-throughput sequencing (10x Multiome, MAS-ISO-seq, CUT&RUN) and mass spectrometry-based proteomics data.
  • Analyze and integrate multimodal datasets to infer gene regulatory networks and genetically informed cellular programs linked to psychiatric and metabolic disorders.
  • Communicate research findings in scientific presentations and papers.
  • Conceptualize new research directions based on existing data.
  • Help maintain and organize computational infrastructure and resources.
  • Train and mentor junior lab members.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, statistics, or a related field. Talented applicants of all levels are encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated expertise in biological data analysis; experience with single-cell sequencing, proteomics, machine learning, and/or multimodal data integration is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Unix, standard bioinformatics programming (Python, R, or equivalent), and cluster/cloud computing; other programming languages a plus (C/C++, Java).
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to plan, execute, and lead projects in a multidisciplinary team.
